Finally, an update!

Things have been quite busy lately. So many things have happened in such a short amount of time.

I am happy to say that Aby, Kyle and myself are now pretty much settled into our cozy little unit in Singapore. It's such a relief that we are now able to be together. Long distance relationships are tough enough on their own, with our little baby boy, it only made things tougher. We've been lucky and blessed enough to be given a chance to work in a different market which is very valuable experience in any field.

It's also great that we are having a lot of fun in our little family "adventure" here in Singapore . It wasn't easy leaving our families and support systems back home. But both Aby and myself are enjoying being parents to our little baby boy Kyle. He's such an angel! Parenthood is definitely are great blessing.

We just got back from taking our little boy to see the Chinese Garden. We all had so much fun! Below are some pictures:

Million Dollar Manny

A few weeks back, I tweeted an article I read on cnnsi.com that ranked the top earning international athletes in the world. I was pleasantly surprised to find our very own Manny Pacquiao ranked third behind just David Beckham and Kimi Räikkönen. I found it quite amazing as Manny was ranked ahead of such global names like Yao Ming, Lewis Hamilton, Roger Federer, Vijay Singh, Cristiano Ronaldo, Thierry Henry, Dirk Nowitzki, Maria Sharapova and Kaká.

The article claims that Manny earned US$40 million. Is this true? Who knows. It's probably a guesstimate. Nevertheless, a simple conversion to PHP (1USD = 48 PHP) shows us just how much it really is. In our currency, it is equivalent to a staggering 1.9 billion pesos. Yes, that's right...1.9 BILLION pesos! For perspective, GMA-7 earned a profit of 1 billion pesos from January-May of this year. Of course, GMA-7 is a huge organization with possibly thousands of employees accross the country.

Mid-year Review

Most of us working regular jobs often find ourselves looking back at past performance in an effort to predict and project future performance. Ah, the mid-year review! Most of the time though, we live our lives always thinking of the future that we don't stop to look at the past. Working in the media industry, this is very much true even with day to day work. Often we are planning for campaigns that will happen two or three months from now that we forget what the actual date is.

June is almost over and the first half of 2009 is now in the books. What do I have to show for it besides the obvious? Do I care to make bold predictions of where I want my life to go or what I want to do before I reach a certain age? Is it always good to have an idea of what I want in life so I don't end up aimlessly wondering or is this aimless wondering part of the journey? How do I get from point A to point B?

Every person will end up giving a different answer. And each and every one of them will be correct.

Look back at the past, enjoy the present and be positive about the future. Time doesn't stop for anyone but that doesn't mean that you cannot control what you make of it.

Looking forward to the next six months of 2009.

Looking forward to finally being with Aby and Kyle. I love you both very much.
